What a great weekend for Lexham Engineering at the 2023 Goodwood Revival with fastest lap of the weekend and first place for James Davison driving the McLaren MIB in the Can-Am Whitsun Trophy. The Whitsun Trophy is the fastest race of the weekend with the historic Can-Am cars from the heady days of the 60’s, with virtually unrestricted regulations and unlimited horsepower thundering at full throttle round the track.

Starting from the outside of the front row of a packed grid in the super silver arrow McLaren M1B, James made a great start off the line to establish an early lead. Racing behind was intense with Lolas, Lotuses, Crossleys and GT40s all jostling for position, with some competitive racing delivering a real crowd pleaser from these historic V8’s.

Racing was interrupted by Julien Draper spinning off into the barriers on turn one, fortunately walking away from the wreckage, which brought out the safety car for a fairly lengthy period. James then nailed the restart through the chicane to romp home to a well-deserved first place, claiming fastest lap on the way.

Moving on to day three conditions were very different for the 1961 Lotus-Alfa Romeo entered into the Glover Trophy for Grand Prix cars from 1961 – 1965 and driven by Bradley Hoyt. With puddles forming on the track keeping the cars on the racetrack was challenging enough with Bradley claiming a very credible finish devoid of drama and the car still in one piece!
